I found this Livejournal earlier today. It's quite an interesting read. I think the guy is Army (probably Special Forces) who is in a building in downtown NO (it's 650 Poydras St. if you have Google Earth or something) with several other people, in a Data Center with generators and such. A very interesting first-hand account of some things going on.

That is really interesting and kind of distrubing at the same time...

I can't stop watching CNN, let alone Scott. Fortunately his family is all safe, but they most likely don't have a home anymore (or at least it's completely under water). They live just south of Lake Ponchatrain where the worst flooding occurred. They won't even be allowed back into the city for a month to even retrieve what might be salvagable (which by then might not be anything). Even then, they'll only be allowed to stay for about 3 hours and then they have to leave. It's really horrific. Oh, and to top it off...hotels here in T'town are evicting hurricane refugees because people have reservations for the football game this weekend. I guess I just didn't realize that football was so much more important than people. Guess I should have, though. It is the official state religion.

Well, I've seen several websites to access satelite pictures of the area, so if you (or anyone else) would like some of the links let me know. It won't show exactly what happened, but he might be able to see if the house is under water or not. There actually is a rather sharp divide between flooded and non-flooded. Much of the area West of the Metaire Outfall Canal doesn't look really bad as far as flood waters go.

Also, after initial stupidity many of the people who have had reservations for football games are giving them up, you can read about it here.
